Health & Social Care Training Courses

AIMS:
This one day progamme aims to explore the essential underpinning values for positive practice in social care, social work and health care provision. It looks at the underpinning attitudes which are essential to ensure that people who use care services receive quality provision and gives workers a benchmark for professional conduct.

OBJECTIVES:
This will be achieved by:

  • Considering the essential value base for quality care provision including respect for the equality of all individuals, confidentiality, beliefs and preferences, rights and choices and positive communication
  • Examination of anti discriminatory legislation
  • Exploring codes of conduct and how this links to the demonstration of robust professional care values
  • Examining the worker's duty to challenge - safeguarding issues and discrimination (including bullying), whistle-blowing policies and service users' right to representation and complaint
  • Considering the research into the value of positive attitudes and an approach conducive to positive relationships with clients
  • Exploring the role self awareness, reflective and reflexive practice in underpinning care values

OUTCOMES:
By the end of this programme, delegates will have had the opportunity to explore the evidence base for promoting positive care values in services; how self awareness and reflection contribute to ensuring the maintenance of good practice and the main, tangible components of robust professional behaviour.
